Panaca is a wonderful theme park just one hour from San Jose, located in beautiful San Mateo. The park offers the feel and experience of the Costa Rican countryside and is full of exciting things to do and see, including many interactive activities as you go along. The theme is Costa Rican Agriculture, life in the countryside, and plenty of live animals. Panaca is the largest zoological park in Costa Rica. It is a blend of interactions between visitors, nature and domestic animals. It is a perfect visit for adults, children and teenagers.
With over 3500 domestic animals, Panaca is a very large farm with 6 major areas of spectacular animal shows and exhibitions. Located on almost 200 acres of beautiful countryside, with wandering trails and gardens, Panaca is fun, safe, and offers plenty to do and see.
Each major area offers something new and exciting For example, the cattle station displays beef cattle, dairy cattle and exotic breeds of cattle, and the dog station features a large variety of diverse canine breeds. There are many other areas such as the horse area which features many different types of horses including pure bloods and the spectacular Costa Rican Criollo horses. Also, the Andaluz horses will dance to musical rhythms, and visitors will have fun with the international cowboy show and native acrobatics.
