| One of the most magnificent volcanoes in Costa Rica is the soaring Poas Volcano, and this tour combines a visit to this great volcano as well as a visit to the beautiful towns of Sarchi and Grecia. Poas Volcano is a spectacular volcano, and is not to be missed when visiting Costa Rica. It has an amazing crater that is over 1 mile across and is an active volcano, yet completely safe for viewing. From the observation area, you can look directly down into the crater and be awe-inspired by the incredible sight of nature´s work in progress. Then, on to Grecia and Sarchi where you will discover the culture and art of Costa Rica. These are two very special towns where the true roots of this wonderful country are on display. As you ride through the province of Alajuela, you will be surrounded by many of the largest coffee and sugar cane plantations in Costa Rica. Then, upon arriving in Grecia, you will visit many points of interest including the famous metal church of our Lady of Mercy, which is the only metal church in Central American and a national monument that is a source of great pride to the local inhabitants. Arriving in Sarchi, you will discover an artisan town that is world-famous for its furniture and handicraft factories. Some of the finest craftsmen in Costa Rica are here. During this tour, you will visit the actual factories where the Costa Rican famous oxcarts are built. A delicious lunch will be served during the tour. This enjoyable half-day tour includes stopping at several factories and souvenir shops. |
