Tortuguero is one of the most important nesting sites in the world for the famous large green sea turtle (Chelonia midas), and the forests and waterways of Tortuguero are home to such endangered mammals as sloths, monkeys and manatees. Here also, is a great variety of birds such as toucans, trogons, egrets, herons and anhingas, as well as crocodiles and other large mammals.
This wonderful nature tour passes through lush mountains and dense forests on the way to Tortuguero, and as you go you will admire the nature and awesome beauty of the Costa Rican countryside. As you travel through the beautiful Braulio Carrillo National Park, you will see cascading waterfalls, beautiful mountain slopes, cloud forests and lush flora and fauna.
After a traditional Costa Rican breakfast, you will continue on to one of the Costa Rica´s famous banana plantations, where you will visit a banana packing plant and have a guided tour.
Next, you will enjoy an exciting boat trip to reach the jungle of the Caribbean canals, and Tortuguero National Park. This magnificent park covers almost 75,000 acres, and you will see turtles, countless butterflies, the beautiful blue morpho and much more, as you enjoy your boat ride through the Tortuguero canals. Later, you will enjoy a wonderful buffet lunch, and then take a walk through the lush tropical rainforest to enjoy nature at its best.
